PESHAWAR, Nov 14: Provincial Education Minister Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani on Tuesday informed the NWFP assembly that 670 lecturers had been posted in colleges in the province, and over 2,000 subject specialists have been recruited.

He told the house that construction of new degree college in Buner district was in final stages. Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan was in the chair.

Speaking on a calling attention notice of Muzzaffar Said Khan from Lower Dir, the education minister informed the house that after completion of the school building, the SNEs (schedule of new expenditures) for school staff was sent to the finance department for approval.

The mover had referred to shortage of teaching staff in schools falling in his constituency.

The irrigation minister assured the house that the grievances of the mover would be removed. The house admitted an adjournment motion of Abdul Majid Khan from Swabi for discussion which pertained to display of rates of taxes like abyana, agriculture tax etc. in the respective 'Patwarkhanas' of the district for convenience of the people.

Israrullah Khan Gandapur from D I Khan in his calling attention notice drew attention of the house towards damages occurred to water distribution system during the flood season.

In his calling attention notice Alamzeb Umerzai from Charsadda complained about slow pace of work on the Peshawar-Charsadda road. Sikandar Sherpao supported the motion.

Information Minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai assured the house that the pace of work on the said road would be expedited.—APP
