Islands being developed for locals’ benefit, says Ibad

HYDERABAD, Nov 13: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that development of Karachi’s islands will result in investment of billions of rupees in the area.

He said that the issues of land allotment pertained to federal and provincial governments which would be solved.

Talking to newsmen at the circuit house here on Monday, he said that the land of the islands was being used properly which would benefit the local people.

He said that it was due to the government’s efforts that

foreign investment was flowing to the country.

“We should cash in on the opportunity”, he replied when asked local population has complained of non-provision of jobs in case of any such mega project.

He said that the projects would lead to employment opportunities for people and would also produce good economic results. He said that federal and provincial governments would decide other issues between themselves.

He said that such development should be seen in broader spectrum.

He told a questioner that he was aware of a ban on transmission of Sindh TV channel and the matter had been taken up accordingly.

GROUND-BREAKING: Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of Latifabad flyover in the evening, the governor asked the district government to undertake extraordinary efforts to complete all the projects even before their stipulated period of completion.He said that the Latifabad flyover should be completed within six months and gave blanket approval if any sort of help was required on the part of Sindh government.
