Oppposition threatens indefinite BD blockade

By Our Correspondent

DHAKA, Nov 11: The Awami League-led political combine has decided on Saturday evening to enforce indefinite blockade throughout the country from Sunday.

During the blockade, no transport will be allowed to enter Dhaka from the rest of the districts and vice versa.

The political alliance announced the blockade to press home its 11-point demand that include reorganisation of the Election Commission.

The government has taken extra security measures across the country, especially in the capital, to maintain order.

More than 20,000 lawmen comprising members of the police, Rapid Action Battalion, Bangladesh Rifles and Armed Police Battalion will be deployed in the capital alone to check violence and prevent confrontations.
