Victories for Pakistan in Super Sixes


KARACHI, Nov 11: Pakistan secured victories against Sri Lanka and Hong Kong to enter elite Sir Garry Sobers group as two-day Super Sixes cricket tournament commenced at Hong Kong on Saturday.

According to details received here, Pakistan notched their first victory when they crushed the hosts by 39 runs.

Skipper Imran Nazir (34) and all-rounder Yasir Arafat (33) fired quick runs as the defending champions scored 110 without losing a wicket in stipulated five overs.

Test-discard Hasan Raza also played a valuable innings of 32 runs.

In reply, the home team managed to score only 71 for loss of two wickets.

Later, Pakistan recorded their second victory when they defeated Sri Lanka by the same margin of 39 runs.

Pakistan scored 109 for loss of three wickets in allotted five overs and then restricted their opponents to 70 runs.

Arafat was top-scorer with 32 runs.—PPI
