RAWALPINDI, Nov 4: The Punjab police have decided to detect rising crimes through the satellite (GIS) system which would be attached to the Rescue 15 centres. A spokesman for the inspector-general of police Punjab Ziaul Hassan said global policing system was being introduced in the province under which crimes would be detected through satellite system.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has decided to spend Rs12 billion on different projects to meet the requirements of the police and to provide security to public life and property.
The spokesman said secret cameras and close-circuit televisions were being installed in commercial markets, main bazaars and important public points to check crimes.
To ensure the safety of life and property of the citizens, a comprehensive planning is being formulated for pro-active and preventive policing besides effective monitoring and foot patrolling across the province, the spokesman said. The chief minister himself has been monitoring the cases of kidnapping for ransom and reviewing the police performance on a weekly basis.
The spokesman said Rs3 billion were being spent on upgrading the system of telecommunication, information system, police patrolling and for purchase of vehicles and instruments.
During the current year, only one case of sectarian terrorism has been reported and the accused were arrested by the law-enforcement agencies.
