KARACHI, Nov 4: Fancied three-year-old bay colt Laat Sahib obliged the punters when he posted a facile five-length victory over closest rival Jack In the Box to made it two in a row in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Laat Sahib and Jack In the Box, a four-year-old colt, fought neck-and-neck as the race progressed but after negotiating the bend and getting into straight for home the former surged ahead to win with comfortable ease.

Belonging to the stables of Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara, the winner was saddled by Allah Judrio and efficiently ridden home by M. Manzoor.

Three-year-old filly Swift Arrival finished third while colt Sher Garh completed the frame. The running of latter by rider M. Yousuf left much to be desired.

Pir Pagara claimed back-to-back races as three-year-old filly Abhi Abhi atoned to three dismal runs by sprinting to half length victory over fancied The Concord in the next race.

Despite finishing off the board in the last three outings Abhi Abhi was installed favourite in the betting ring and returned with flying colours with Mohammad Essa astride. The two were chased by Paidagir and Cant Catch Me.

Jockey Arshad galloped three-year-old chestnut colt Reyan King to an impressive seven lengths victory over Dragon Heart to claim feature event.

Four-year-old chestnut filly Goldi Locks who was rank outsider pulled off an upset outpacing mare Forget Me Not by three lengths.

Chestnut Leo Again, who was installed favourite in the race, broke down while approaching the bend and was destroyed. Its rider Ashiq Ali escaped major injuries.

Earlier, chestnut Yanga died off heart failure soon after finishing the race. Tariq Baran who was in the saddle, returned unhurt.

Second favourite 10-year-old bay mare Sweet Grandy picked up spoils when she edged out Tom cruise by five lengths. Favourite filly Foolish Pleasure failed to finish on the board.

Seven-year-old grey horse Super Shot with no form worth upset the applecart when he was piloted home by Shahid Manan by beating Gold Tip.

Rider Mazar presented owner Miss Zainab Ali with a winner when he sprinted filly Mixed Blessing to victory.

Earlier, as predicted in these columns, two-year-old bay filly Samreen won her maiden race beating filly Princess Zatura by three lengths in the opener.
