ARL facing follow-on

KARACHI, Nov 4: Newcomers Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) were facing follow-on against defending champions National Bank on the second day of the four-day Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match at the NBP Sports Complex on Saturday.

Responding to the bankers’ first innings score of 382, ARL were 131 for seven. Sajid Mahmood (18) and Zohaib Ahmed (12) were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.

Paceman Wasim Khan and off-spinner Irfanuddin took two wickets each while Test fast bowler Mohammad Sami claimed one for 52 in 15 overs but bowled 12 no-balls.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 260 for five, the bankers were dismissed 382. Fawwad Alam struck a solid 63 with four boundaries after occupying the crease for 222 minutes. Sami returned unbeaten on 34 laced with three sixes and two fours and Test wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal hit 33.

Right-arm medium-pacer Asim Butt was the pick of ARL’s bowlers with excellent figures of six for 94.
