Jirga report clarified

QUETTA, Nov 4: A Balochistan government spokesman has denied a news item published in a section of the press on Saturday about a jirga to be held in Gwadar. The spokesman said that a report published on Saturday attributed To Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yusuf gives an impression that President Gen Pervez Musharraf has summoned a tribal jirga of Baloch Sardars On Nov 16 in Gwadar.

Describing this incorrect, the spokesman said that the chief minister while speaking to reporters during his visit to Quetta Press Club on Friday, had only stated that President Musharraf is expected to visit Gwadar on Nov 16 where he would meet elders and notables besides reviewing pace of development projects. The spokesman said that the chief minister did not mention grand jirga in his talks.—PPI
