Inzamam and Yousuf fall cheaply

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Nov 3: Star cricketers including Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Mohammad Hafeez threw away wickets cheaply in the opening round match of the Patron's Trophy Grade-1 between Wapda and Sui Gas at the Sheikupura Stadium on Friday and thus failed to cash the opportunity to gain form and fitness ahead of the forthcoming series against West Indies.

Asked to bat first by Wapda, Sui Gas were all out for 40 runs in 29 overs as no batsman reached the double figures.

Right-arm medium pacer Bilal Khilji finished with five for only nine runs. Pakistan Test pacer Rana Naved-ul-Hasan captured three wickets for 17.

In reply, Wapda, having the services of Inzamam and Yousuf, were wobbling in the first innings at 97-5 in 43.3 overs by close of the play.

Samiullah Niazi grabbed the wickets of both the batsmen.

Summarised scores: Sui Gas 1st innings 40 (Bilal Khilji 5 for 9, Rana Naved 3 for 17); Wapda 97 for 5.
