Laat Sahib poised to repeat winning feat today

By Anwar Zuberi

KARACHI, Nov 3: A keen tussle between three-year-old bay colt Laat Sahib and four-year-old colt Jack In The Box is on card when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Ridden by M. Manzoor, the former had posted a one length victory over the latter in the Oct 14 meeting.

Jack In The Box also had a win under his belt as he edged out filly Sky Girl by four lengths in the post Eid meeting.

Promoted to div I in class VII after their respective triumphs, the two horses are drawn in a field of nine in the five furlongs sixth race of the day. On form, Laat Sahib is poised to repeat winning performance and start as our days’ best.A fixture of eight races has been drawn for the day’s meeting.

The first race begins at 12.30noon.

Three-year-old filly, Stormy Kiss, who failed to stretch her winning run losing to Eswarah last Sunday is tipped to atone to the loss should she win the six furlongs feature event. Nine horses are left in contention for honours after scratching.

She is likely to be chased by filly Queen Of Mirwa and colt Reyan King for places.

Three-year-old bay colt, The Concord, is favourite to avenge his last defeat by emerging victorious in the supporting six furlongs race. He was beaten by colt Paidagir by half-a-length last Sunday.

He should be followed home by Paidagir and Cant Catch Me.

Chestnut Leo Again is poised to make amends by picking up spoils in div II class VII which has a big field of 18 runners barring last minute withdrawls. He suffered a four lengths defeat at the hands of mare Queen Of Awan in the last meeting.

Forget Me Not and Juliat enjoys edge over others for securing places.

Five-year-old Canon Ball who finished third in the last race is fancied to run away with the honours. However, to accomplish the feat, he should have to overcome Sweet Grandy and Fascinate.

Seven-year-old mare, Royal Beauty, who was among those who also ran in the last outing, should pick up spoils in the third race of the day.

After posting a facile three-and-a-half lengths victory over Royal Reach on Oct 8 she failed even to finish on the board in the next run.

Daruwala and Gold Tip are expected to fight it out for places.
