Aziz calls for moon sighting mechanism

ISLAMABAD, Oct 29: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked the ministry of religious affairs to work out a mechanism for moon sighting, in consultation with Ulema from Pakistan and other Islamic countries so that the nation could celebrate Eids on a single day.

Mr Aziz was talking to Minister for Religious Affairs Ejazul Haq who had called on him at the Prime Minister House on Sunday.

Mr Haq briefed the prime minister about arrangements made by his ministry for Haj and said that 150,000 people would perform Haj this year and Haj flights would start from December 5.

The prime minister asked the minister to ensure proper arrangements for accommodation, medical care and transportation of Hujjaj and look after their other needs so that they could perform Haj in a trouble-free manner.

The minister also briefed the prime minister on development schemes.—-APP
