Chakar Domki passes away

QUETTA, Oct 29: Sardar Chakar Khan Domki, the chief of the Domki tribe, died on Saturday after prolonged illness. He was 64. He leaves behind a wife and four sons.

He was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Lehri on Sunday

A large number of tribal elders and political leaders — including Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, Mir Humayun Khan Marri, Mir Ghalib Hussain Domki, Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch and Jafar Khan Mandokhel – besides hundreds of tribesmen from Sindh and Balochistan attended his funeral.

Chakar Khan, the son-in-law of Nawab Akbar Bugti, started his political career in 1971 when he took part in the general election as an independent candidate and was elected to the first Balochistan Assembly.

He was elected MPA seven times from 1971 to 1997.
