‘Killers’ of UC nazim candidate arrested

MULTAN, Oct 23: Police claimed on Monday to have arrested two accused involved in the murder of a candidate for Darkhana union council nazim. Reports said Sajjad alias Sujjo and Nazir Bhatti had killed Khyzer Hayat Toro in an election meeting in 2005. Haveli Koranga police had registered a case against them on the report of heirs of Khyzer Hayat. On Monday, Shorkot police conducted a raid at Khokhra Kamlana Mauza Ghamat Mari and arrested them.

GANGS SMASHED: Multan police claimed to have arrested several members of seven gangs.

This was said in a press release issued here on Monday.

It said Iqbal, Nauman, Khadim Husain, Javed, Bashir Ahmed and Khalid of Shaukat alias Shauka gang were involved in 20 criminal cases. Karam Ali, Abdul Rashid alias Shida, Fayyaz Ahmed and Iqbal alias Bali of Karam Ali alias Karma Phatar gang were accused of dacoities and thefts.

Nauman alias Nauma, Muhammad Nadeem, Irshad Husain alias Shadi, Shehzad alias Shehzada and Abubakar of Nauma gang had committed 13 dacoities.

The release said the police smashed Mumtaz Sipra, Saeedur Rehman and Ramzan gangs and arrested their members.

LIQOUR: A man died after drinking poisonous liquor here on Sunday night.

Reports said Faqeer Husain, 20, of Bawa Saffara together with his friend Wajid Husain, 28, took liquor and were rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced the former dead.
