Copies of Dawn set on fire

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Oct 22: Copies of Dawn were set on fire in front of the Hyderabad press club by some people who had snatched them from news-stands and hawkers in Qasimabad taluka and some other areas of the city on Sunday morning.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the incident.

However, an unidentified caller telephoned the Hyderabad press club and told the receptionist that Dawn would be taught a lesson. The incident was reported to the Cantonment police station.

President of the Hyderabad press club Shahid Shaikh condemned the incident and described it as an attack on freedom of the press. The Hyderabad Union of Journalists also condemned the attack.
