Cancellation of plots welcomed

QUETTA, Oct 22: Deputy Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Mohammad Aslam Bhootani has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision regarding cancellation of plots of members of parliament and cabinet in Gwadar and said that it had given a clear policy for curbing corruption.

“The apex court’s decision will prove to be in the larger interest of the people and the country,” he said in a statement issued here on Sunday before leaving for London to attend the Wilton Park Conference.

He said that people come in politics to serve the people but unfortunately most of the public representatives ignored the problems of their people involving in plot, permit politics and selling of votes during senate election that not only increase the difficulties of the people but also get bad name.

“Before the Supreme Court decision, I refused five plot quotas and informed the provincial officials concerned, both verbally and in writting,” Mr Bhootani said adding that the court verdict has proved his stand in this regard.

He said that he has not joined politics with the aim to earn money that is why he cast his vote in March senate elections according to his will and desire despite tremendous pressure, threats and big offers.

The deputy speaker of the Balochistan Assembly said that he had already given written suggestion to the government that five plots of his quota in Gwadar should be sale out in the open auctioned and price of these plots should be spent on the welfare of the people of his constituency.
