KARACHI, Oct 21: AKD XI moved into the final of the 21st Karachi Gymkhana-AKD Ramazan cricket tournament with a five-wicket victory over Pak PWD at the KG Ground on Saturday.
Pak PWD, who were invited to bat first in the second semi-final, were all out for 103 in 19 overs. Daniyal Ahsan made 40 off 32 balls with three fours and one six.
Spinners Mansoor Khan, Fariduddin and Mohammad Farrukh each captured two wickets.
AKD XI found no problems in the run-chase and needed just 12.1 overs to book their place in the final.
Shahid Yousuf struck six fours and one six in scoring 43 off 37 balls after openers Tanvir Ahmed (21 of 8 balls with four boundaries) and Kamran Younis (26 off 17 with two sixes and one four) had done their bits.
Off-spinner Aftab Ahmed took three for 22.
AKD XI’s opponents in the final on Sunday are PIA Academy, who scored a thrilling one-wicket win over Customs CC in the first semi-final on Friday.
PIA Academy eventually got home with just one ball left.
