GUJRANWALA, Oct 21: The anti-terrorism court No 1 rejected the plea of former Gujrat DPO Raja Munawar Hassan seeking acquittal in Sialkot jail case, and recorded the Jhang DPO’s statement here on Saturday.

DPO Raja Munawar Hassan filed a petition before the ATC, requesting his acquittal, stating there was no evidence against him in the case.

The DPO also sought that his statement should not be registered regarding the Sialkot jail incident.

The court, however, recorded the statement of Jhang DPO Amjed Javed Saleemi. He stated that a rescue operation was conducted in the Sialkot jail, and the incident involved no target killings.

DPO Saleemi repeated the statement already recorded by additional IG and regional police officer Malik Muhammad Iqbal during the last hearing.

The court adjourned the case for Oct 27.
