Kidnapped man freed: 22 arrested

By Our Staff Correspondent

Quetta, Oct 19: Police have freed Shakir Javed Khokar, the kidnapped son of leading local businessman Ataullah Khokar, and arrested 22 people, Deputy Inspector General of Quetta Police Salman Syed said at a press conference here on Thursday.

Shakir was kidnapped two weeks ago and kidnappers had demanded Rs20 million for his release.

The DIG said Shakir was going to his spare parts shop in Harzar Ganji bus stand on October 5 when armed men intercepted his car and kidnapped him.

The kidnappers contacted his father on satellite phone from different places and demanded Rs20 million. The businessman informed police about the ransom demand.

A police team, acting on information about the kidnappers, raided two places in the Labour Colony and Killi Kamalo.

The man was found in a house in Killi Kamalo where he had been kept in chains. The 22 accused were arrested from the house.

The DIG said the family of Shakir Javed extended full cooperation to police.
