LAHORE, Oct 17: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday notified that 47 parliamentarians and members of provincial assemblies had ceased to function as members of the elected forums because of their failure to submit their statements of assets and liabilities by Sept 30.
According to a statement issued here, the names of the legislators and assembly members had been notified by the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Justice Qazi Mohammad Farooq (retired) in pursuance of sub-section (3) of Section 42A of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1976.
As a result they had ceased to function as members of their respective assemblies and Senate with effect from Oct 16 till the submission of their statements of assets and liabilities to the ECP.
They included one senator, 12 MNAs and 34 members from all the provincial assemblies.
They are Senator Sanaullah Baloch, MNAs Sahibzada Mohammad Mehboob Sultan (NA-91 Jhang-VI), Chaudhry Imranullah Advocate (NA-95 Gujranwala-I), Qazi Hameedullah Khan (NA-96 Gujranwala II), Chaudhry Mehdi Hasan Bhatti (NA-102 Hafizabad I), Malik Zaheer Abbas Advocate (NA-128 Lahore-XI), Rubina Shaheen Wattoo (NA147 Okara-V), Nawab Amanullah Khan (NA-152 Lodhran-I), Azhar Ahmad Khan Yousufzai (NA-170 Vehari-IV), Khwaja Sheraz Mahmood (NA-171 Dera Ghazi Khan-I), Makhdoomzada Syed Ali Hassan Gillani (NA-183 Bahawalpur-I) and Fauzia Habib and Riffat Ahmad (both elected on reserved seats for women).
