Black Girl lands feature event in style

KARACHI, Oct 14: Making her appearance after a lay-off, three-year-old filly Black Girl returned to form posting six lengths victory over Trust Again to land the feature event in the Summer Gymkhana meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Installed as favourite, she was ridden home by jockey Tariq Baran who went on to complete a fine double. His earlier winner was Yanga in the opener.

Finishing further 10 lengths behind was filly Voo Doo Doll while colt Shan-e-Arab completed the frame.

Three-year-old bay colt Laat Sahib atoned to five successive failures by sprinting to one length victory in the supporting event. Saddled by Allah Judrio, he was piloted home by M. Manzoor.

Colt Jack In the Box, who was joint favourite, finished second while Aces High came from behind to beat Lucky Leader by short head to claim third slot.

M. Nasir presented owner Adnan Azam Khan with a winner when he galloped six-year-old fancied Lucky Luck to three lengths victory over Sweet Grandy. The winner was installed favourite after Azam The Great was withdrawn in the morning declaration.

Queen Of Awan with Faiz Mohammad astride obliged the punters when she posted a facile five lengths victory over mare Ghabra in the second race.

Earlier, chestnut Yanga from the stables of Abdul Hafeez claimed the opener with a fine two-and-a-half lengths victory over Racing Leader. Favourite King Of The Field aspiring for two in a row settled for third.

Four-year-old filly Jet Zone was withdrawn in morning.

The next Gymkhana race meeting will be held on Oct 29.
