Gulfaraz XI triumph

KARACHI, Oct 13: Gulfaraz XI edged past a star-studded Hameed XI 4-3 in the Ramazan Champion Trophy hockey tournament at UBL Sports Complex on Friday.

Hameed XI, fielding several Pakistan veterans including Ahmad Alam, Kamran Ashraf, Kashif Jawwad and Mohammad Ali, received its first jolt when winners got into lead with goals from Sumair Saleem and Kashif Bhopali in the first half.

Ali reduced the margin for the losers after resumption before Owais Khan netted the third for the winners to make it 3-1. Kamran then found the cage only to see Sumair slamming the backboards for his second. Though losers fought back, all they could do was to score their third through Kashif.
