KARACHI, Oct 13: Traffic police have made arrangements for Yaum-i-Ali falling on Sunday, Ramazan 21st (Oct 15).
A procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park at 1pm, which after passing through Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, again M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Rampat Rai Road, will terminate at Imambargah Hussainian Iranian at about 9pm.
As soon as the procession will start from Nishtar Park all traffic coming from the city side will be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road/Dr Dawood Pota Road.
Traffic on Bahadur Yar Jang Road from its junction with Dr Dawood Pota Road upto its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road shall flow one way.
All buses, mini buses and trucks coming from Nazimabad side will be diverted to Nishtar Road towards Zoological Garden from Lasbella intersection.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted to Martin Road towards jail side. These vehicles shall be permitted to proceed up to jail and then via Jamshed Road up to the junction of Dadabhoy Noorji Road, Kashmir road, Sharah-i-Quaideen and will proceed up to Gora Qabristan crossing via Sharea Faisal.
When the head of the procession reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street, these vehicles shall proceed straight from 603 EME Workshop towards Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road. Till the situation permits, these vehicles shall be diverted on to I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road/Moulana Din Mohammad Wafai Road.
Similarly, all buses, minibuses and other heavy vehicles approaching from Stadium Road shall proceed via new M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted on to Dada Bhay Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road, from its junction with new M.A. Jinnah Road.
All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from Super Highway shall be diverted from Dakhana Chowrangi towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No 1 and shall proceed along Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road, Manghopir Road, Habib Bank Chowrangi, Estate Avenue Road, Shershah, Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall follow the same route.
Similarly all buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway will proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, University Road, Jail Chowrangi, Jail Road/Martin Road, Teen Hatty, Nishtar Road, Lasbella Chowk, Nawab Siddiq Ali Khan Road, Altaf Hussain Barelvi Road, Manghopir Road, Habib Chowk, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah, Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall adopt the same route. The car traffic shall not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandar roundabout. These vehicles shall be diverted on to Bahadur Yar Jang Road again on to Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road and shall proceed via Nishtar Road. Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Bahadur Yar Jang Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Mohammad Khan Road.
All cars coming from Quaid-i-Azam Mazar side along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards old exhibition under any circumstances. All vehicular traffic approaching Numaish Chowrangi via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those arriving to participate in the procession having stickers pasted on their windscreen) shall not be permitted to proceed from the roundabout behind Mazar Quaid-i-Azam towards Old Exhibition.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies shall not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of: (a) Preedy Street/Sarmad Road, (b) Preedy Street/M.A. Jinnah Road, (c) Sharah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road, (d) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Muhammad Bin Qasim Road, when the procession reaches M.A Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street, Aga Khan Road and Mansfield Street.
No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from the junction of Preedy Street/ M.A. Jinnah Road when the procession clears the intersection.
Traffic coming from zoo shall not be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road, Aga Khan Road.
Traffic on Martin Road shall flow one-way. The stretch of the road between the junction of Nawab Mahabat Khanjee Road, Shidi Village Road, Aga Khan Road, Delumel Chela Ram Road will be out of bound to trucks, buses, motorcycles and rickshaws. —APP
