KARACHI, Oct 12: The Sindh government has decided to complete all schemes of the National Drainage Programme (NDP) by June 30, 2007.

This was decided at the 31st meeting of the NDP held here at Sindh Secretariat on Thursday with Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman in the chair.

The meeting reviewed performance of the NDP and the Sindh Irrigation Development Authority (SIDA), as well as holding of an NDP seminar in Badin later this month. It was decided to fill up the vacancies in financial and technical fields.

The meeting also decided that the NDP would put forward a fortnightly scheme-wise report to chief secretary.

It was pointed out that more than 300 ongoing schemes costing Rs566 million would be completed by June 31 next year.

Provincial Coordinator NDP, Brig Abdul Haq, Secretary Irrigation Shuja Ahmed Junejo, Secretary Finance Malik Israr Hussain, Secretary Social Welfare Abdul Qadir and other officials attended the meeting.—PPI
