PGF to raise pool of teachers

By A Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, Oct 11: The Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) has embarked on a programme ‘How to Teach Golf’ aimed at making a pool of qualified people for raising the standard of game in the country.

The third and final leg of the programme held in collaboration with Scotland based R & A (Royal and Ancient), the world governing body of the game, was held at the Karachi Golf Club on Wednesday.

The day long programme was conducted by Italian Piero Sabellico, representative of R & A and received an encouraging response.

Earlier, he had conducted a two-day similar programme at Lahore followed by three-day course at Islamabad. He is scheduled to return on Thursday.

This was the second occasion that PGF had conducted teaching programme to help improve the academic side of teachers. The previous was held in last June.

“The programme was sponsored by R & A who provided a financial assistance of 5,000 Pounds,” PGF secretary, Taimur Hasan said.

He said PGF plans to raise teaching staff after classification who will visit different centres across the country from time to time to provide their expertise.
