FAISALABAD, Oct 10: Residents of Ghulam Muhammadabad, Faizabad and adjoining areas are facing a great deal of inconvenience as Baba Qaim Sain Road has completely been turned into a filth depot where TMA vehicles are regularly disposing of garbage.
The Baba Qaim Sain Road links Ghulam Mohammadabad, a densely populated area and known to be country’s biggest colony, and other colonies to Sargodha Road.
Most of the people take this road to reach their destination, but now it has almost been made impossible because of the continuous disposing of garbage by the solid waste management employees.
The road provides residents the shortest way to reach Allied Hospital. They are now forced to take a long detour to reach the hospital.
The road, starting from Agriculture University grid station and ending at Sargodha Road, has seen no repair work for years due to the negligence of the authority concerned.
Mere simple patchwork was enough to keep the road motorable, Sadiq Muhammad said and added that repeated requests to department concerned so far bore no result.
The continuous seepage of a nearby nullah has likewise marred this road. Skips placed on the road are another hurdle in the smooth flow of traffic.
Teachers and students of a state-run school, only a stone throw distance from this road, have also voiced their protest, but to no avail.
Nasir Hussain, a worker in a nearby garments factory, said the dilapidated condition of the road pointed the apathy of elected representatives and officials of the department concerned.
The area people demanded that the city district nazim and the town nazim should look into the matter.
