NEW DELHI, Oct 3: India’s chief security official said on Tuesday that President Gen Musharraf has promised to cooperate with New Delhi along the lines of the help he provided to the British government to foil what has come to be known as the London hijack plan.

National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan said in a TV interview that India’s understanding was that the joint anti-terror mechanism agreed between Gen Musharraf and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Havana would lead to the kind of cooperation that Islamabad had shown with London earlier this year.

He said the Indian government intends to make use of the joint terror mechanism in the wake of the Mumbai blasts, to test Pakistan’s commitment, not just to the dialogue process, but also on restricting cross border terror.
