KARACHI, Oct 3: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships scheduled to load, offload containers, edible oil and diesel oil during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Tuesday.

A total of 10 ships -- Maersk Peterhead, CSAV Jasmine, MOL Kauri, Chirtal, Scan Hansa, Chemroad Mega, Summit Europe, Sea Master, Anette Kosan and M. Jin Long Feng -- are currently occupying berths to load, offload containers, cement, general cargo, edible oil, diesel oil, sugar, chemicals and coal.

A record cargo handling was achieved on Monday where a cargo volume of 0.106 million tons comprising 0.091 million tons imports and 0.015 million tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,066 containers (TEUs) was handled during last 24 hours.

Three ships, MOL Kauri, Maersk Peterhd and Anette Kosan, sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours.

Four ships, Summit Europe, Chemroad Mega, Scan Hansa and Jin Long Feng, are expected to sail on Tuesday. Caravos Trade is expected to take berth on Tuesday.Two chemicals carriers, Ginga Hawk and Kihuland, are due to arrive at the port on Tuesday, while four more ships, Great Well, ACX Jasmine, San Clement and CMA CGM Sambhar, with coke and containers are due to arrive on Wednesday.
