Six Kashmiris killed

SRINAGAR, Sept 16: Three gun battles in occupied Kashmir killed at least six suspected militants and wounded two policemen on Saturday, police said. Indian army’s special forces killed three suspected militants in a densely forested area of Gurwatan, said Col Hemant Juneja, an army spokesman.

Earlier, a gunbattle left two suspected militants dead and two policemen wounded as police and army cordoned off the Wahipora village following a tip, said police officer Imtiaz Hussain. He said the suspected guerrillas belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen.

In a nearby forest, the army and police killed one suspected militant, officials said.—AP
