DUBAI, Sept 16: Former president of Indian cricket board, A.C. Muthiah was elected chairman of six-member committee, which will choose next president of ICC in 2007.

He was nominated to ICC Nominations Committee. At an ICC meeting in Dubai, Mutiah was elected unanimously.

The existing formula of electing ICC president on a rotation basis has been dispensed with and this Committee will select successor to Percy Sonn of South Africa from amongst nominations received.

ICC has also set terms of reference and code of ethics to be followed by the committee in selecting right candidate for the post.

It said, “The code of ethics is to enhance reputation of ICC, to foster public confidence in ICC's governance and administration of cricket and in particular to strengthen the authority to deal with corruption”.

The call for nominations has already been given and deadline for nominations fixed for Jan 1, 2007.—Agencies
