Eight killed in Neelum Valley accident

MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 14: At least eight people were killed and 30 others injured after a bus plunged about 200 feet down on the banks of River Neelum on Wednesday evening, police said on Thursday.

Police and local administration officials said that the accident occurred near Kel Seri village as the bus was on its way to Kel from Sharda.

The dead include three serving and one retired armymen.

The deceased were identified as Zafran, Iqbal, Khalid, Sepoy Ghulam Rasool, Hawaldar Azam, Naik Karim, Sepoy Nazir Hussain, (Signals) and Ghulam Hussain Sha.

Injured included Mohammad Nazir, Raja Nasiruddin, Mohammad Bilor Khan, Javed Iqbal, Abdul Rehman, Mohammad Afzal, Abdul Hamid, Abdul Jalil, Shafqat, Miskeen, Mukhtiar Shah, Ali Suleman, Maqbool, Umar Khan Farooqi, Rafaqat Hussain, Gulzar, Mohammad Afzal, Mohammad Hanif, Shakil and Iqbal. Armymen injured in the accident were identified Hawaldar Tanvir, Abdul Rahim, Naik Bashir, Sepoy Naseer, Sepoy Ishtiaq, Sepoy Maroof, Sepoy Bashir Khan, Shahbaz, Abdul Rehman and Khalid.

AFP adds: Local officials said that the number of people killed in the accident was 11. PTV reports also confirmed the number of deaths in the accident.
