LAHORE, Sept 14: A hat-trick by Bashir guided Wapda to a crushing 6-0 win over National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in the Pakistan Premier football league at Model Town C-Block ground, on Thursday.

Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) fought hard to beat Pakistan Navy 1-0 in Rawalpindi.

Despite availability of star players in both outfits, Wapda, five-times winner of national championship in 1983, 1991, 2001, 2003, 2004, gave no room to Karachi-based bankers and led 3-0 at interval.

Striker Bashir slammed the first goal in the 30th minute while vice-captain Zulfiqar Ali Shah doubled the lead three minutes later. International Imran Niazi further strengthened the lead, finding the net in the 40th minute for 3-0 lead.

Imran struck his second in the 57th minute, followed by back-to-back goals coming from Bashir in the 71st and 76th minute to complete the tally.

NBP, winners of 8th PFF President Cup 13 years ago, put up patchy display and failed to earn even a consolation goal.

The solitary goal from Adeel Ahmed helped KRL to not only beat Navy but also maintained their winning streak.

KRL had defeated Habib Bank Limited 1-0.

Adeel struck the all-important goal in the 29th minute.
