Army pullout continues

By Pazir Gul

MIRAMSHAH, Sept 4: Army pulled out of several checkposts in the North Waziristan Agency on Monday ahead of the signing of the peace agreement between the local administration and militants.

Sources said that Political Agent Dr Fakher Alam and local militant commanders would sign the agreement on Tuesday (today) in the presence of members of the inter-tribal jirga which brokered the deal.

Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai had formed the 45-member tribal jirga to end the conflict in the agency bordering Afghanistan.

Official sources said that hundreds of troops had vacated key posts on the main Bannu-Miramshah road and other areas of the North Waziristan and returned to the Tochi Scouts’ fort in the town.

They said that soldiers had left Khajori, Aesha, Boya, Doosali, Oblanki, Pash Ziarat base camp near Shawal Valley, Kalanjer and Shel Ghali posts.
