PESHAWAR, Sept 4: Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Attaur Rehman has stressed the need for processing recruitment to faculties at least six months ahead of retirement of staff members.

Speaking at a meeting at Governor’s House on Monday, attended by NWFP Governor Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai and heads of public sector universities, Dr Rehman said the commission was sponsoring thousands of scholarships in institutions of international repute and things would change with the return of qualified faculty members.

According to a handout, he said the federal government was taking steps to promote higher education in the province but every new initiative should be compatible with the standards of the HEC.

He stressed the need for concrete initiatives to develop new institutions in remote areas both of the province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The governor said there was need to introduce new disciplines and develop modern institutions.
