HARIPUR, Aug 28: District nazim Haripur Yousuf Ayub Khan has said that the district government was committed to solving the problems of people of under-developed and deprived areas of the district and for that reason, the development budget had been designed in a way that such union councils got their due share.

He was speaking at a public gathering at the Mohalla Railway Station here on Sunday.

He said that most of the union councils of the district remained deprived of their right of development as his predecessor had directed maximum funds to the union councils of his choice.

He claimed that this exercise would not be repeated during his tenure as district nazim and all the 45 union councils would get their due share of funds from the district’s kitty.

The provincial government was behaving with Haripur district indifferently as most of the funds were being diverted to the southern districts depriving the rest of the areas of the legal right to uplift projects, he said, adding that the policy of pick and choose was detrimental to the progress and survival of this system.

He announced Rs400,000 for carpeting of roads, 2.5 kanals of land for graveyards, sewerage and street pavements of the Mohalla Railway Station and the laying of pipelines for Mohalla Roshanabad.

Kala Khan, Irshad, Sadaqat, and Haji Benaras were among those who spoke to the gathering.
