HYDERABAD, Aug 28: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has ordered the district police to ensure the writ of law and keep an eye on anti-social elements. Presiding over a meeting to review the law and order situation at his office here on Monday, he said that no one would be allowed to take the law into his own hands.

It was the basic duty of the police department to control crime and ensure a peaceful atmosphere for citizens. He directed the DPO to conduct raids for the arrest of criminals as the crime graph was on the increase.

SP (investigation) Khalid Mustafa presented a report for the last four months and said that during this period, action had been taken against 350 anti-social elements, 41 dacoits had been arrested and two Kalashnikovs, 14 pistols, nine rifles, nine revolvers and 800 bullets had been recovered.

DPO Ali Ahmed Junejo, TPO Qasimabad, City and Latifabad and Hyderabad (rural) talukas also presented their reports.

PRICE CONTROL: Hyderabad EDO (revenue) Abdul Sattar Jatoo has said that under instructions from Sindh government, eight complaint centres had been established in the district to control prices of essential commodities.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said officials of the market committee and the staff concerned would remain present at these centres.

He has urged consumers to register their complaints at these centres and also send a copy of the complaint to the administrator market committee.

The EDO has warned hoarders and profiteers with strict legal action.
