PESHAWAR, Aug 28: The deputy district education officer of Buner, Khadim Mohammad, on Monday said the education department would try to ensure enrolment of every child in school.

He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new building of a community-based school in the Malka village, 54 Kilometres northeast of Daggar, district headquarters of Bunner. The school has been constructed by an NGO, Civil Society-Human and Institutional Development (CHIP), in collaboration with the Muslim Care, UK.

The ceremony was attended by elected representatives, teachers, students and local people.

Khadim Mohammad said lack of girls’ education was a big problem of the area and the government was striving to address the issue. He said one of the reasons was shortage of women teachers in the area.

Appreciating efforts of the CHIP, the official said the mandate of the organisation was to promote women’s education in the area, which was a great idea.

“I have visited some of their schools and am satisfied with their efforts,” he added.
