PESHAWAR, Aug 7: The Awami National Party has expressed concern over loss of lives and property in floods and asked the government to ensure judicious distribution of relief goods among the affected people.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the party’s president Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan said floods had played havoc in different districts of the province but the federal government had done nothing to ease the crisis.
He deplored that some elements were out to play politics in these areas and relief goods were being distributed on political basis.
Mr Khan advised the federal government to refrain from playing politics and extend timely assistance to the affected families in these crucial times.
He said the federal government should have set its priorities for helping people on emergency basis. ANP workers, he said, would continue to help people displaced by the floods from their own resources.
