NEW DELHI, Aug 3: Pakistan will welcome a meeting between President Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Havana in September, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri has said.

Mr Kasuri was quoted on Thursday as telling The Hindu in Dhaka that Islamabad would like the two leaders to meet on Sept 15-16.

He described Sunday’s meeting between the foreign secretaries of the two countries as a ‘positive development’ and once again offered his condolence on the July 11 Mumbai blasts.

He appealed to the Indian media to become a ‘partner for peace,’ and claimed that the Pakistan press never jumped to conclusions when incidents occurred in Pakistan.

“So, I think this is counter-productive. We have offered to join you in investigating if there are any leads,” Mr Kasuri said. The Tribune had reported on July 1 that there was a likelihood of the meeting.
