LAHORE, Aug 3: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Thursday recalled Mohammad Shabbir by including the striker in the 25-man list of probables for Hamburg Masters and World Cup.
The national training camp starts from Aug 8 in Abbottabad for the four-nation Hamburg Masters to be played from Aug 25 to 27 and Sept 6 to 17 World Cup in Monchengladbach, Germany.
Apart from hosts, the four-nation tournament will be participated by Pakistan, the Netherlands and Spain.
Shabbir, who was on the injury list, was dropped from the squad that played Champions Trophy in Terrassa.
Apart from Shabbir, penalty corner expert Sohail Abbas and midfielder Waseem Ahmad have also been called. The two players have staged a comeback when they played in Terrassa after withdrawing their retirements two year ago.
PHF has not announced the team management as fate of manager-cum-coach Asif Bajwa hangs in the balance.
The decision whether Asif should be retained is likely on Friday.
Asif has been under criticism for team’s poor performances and recent fifth position in Terrassa. PHF will decide Asif’s fate after going through his report on the debacle in the Spanish city.
