PML-N mass mobilisation campaign from 13th

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Aug 3: The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) on Thursday announced the programme for district conventions in Punjab and the NWFP starting from August 13 as part of its mass mobilisation campaign against the government.

The schedule was announced by the PML-N secretary general Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and information secretary Ahsan Iqbal and other leaders at a press conference. They were briefing the newsmen about the meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC), which was presided over by party chairman Raja Zafarul Haq.

The conventions are being held on the directives of the party chief Nawaz Sharif aimed at mobilising mass campaign against the government within six weeks time.

The PML-N announced that dates for party conventions in Sindh and Balochistan would be announced soon.

According to the schedule, the first PML-N convention would be held in Rawalpindi on August 13, second in Hazara (NWFP) on August 16 and the third at Gujranwala on August 20.

Mr Jhagra said the CWC condemned the denial of the regime to allow the two former prime ministers to return to Pakistan and termed it pre-poll rigging. He hinted that Nawaz Sharif would return to the country three to four months before the elections.

Mr Jhagra condemned the regime for carrying out military operations in Balochistan and tribal areas. He said soon the ARD would hold special meeting in Quetta to express solidarity with their Baloch brethren.

Ahsan Iqbal said the PML-N would soon launch three white papers against the massive corruption of the military regime. Giving details, he said first white paper would highlight Musharraf government’s mega corruption; the second would highlight the regime’s incompetency and the third would be on the rulers’ lavish spendings.

Following is the complete schedule of PML-N conventions:

Rawalpindi (August 13); Hazara (August 16); Gujranwala (August 20); Mardan (Aug 21); Malakand (Aug (Aug 25); Sargodha (Aug 27); Bannu (Aug 29); Lahore (September 3); Peshawar (Sept 7); Dera Ismail Khan (Sept 9); Kohat (Sept 13); Faisalabad (Sept 24); DG Khan (November 5); Multan (Nov 5) and Bahawalpur (Nov 6).
