PESHAWAR, Aug 1: Power supply was disrupted late on Monday night to Mardan and other areas after the overloading of 11KV Harichand feeder and subsequent snapping of the main cable.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, 11KV Harichand feeder from 132KV Jalala Grid Station got overloaded which caused the main cable to snap up and fall on the ground on Monday evening, affecting power supply to Mardan, Takht Bhai, Katlang and Jalala.

Pesco’s technical teams rushed to the area and started rehabilitation work.

However, the repairing work and fixing of new cables needed some time.

In the mean time, angry people, who were chanting slogans against Wapda and Pesco, attacked the Jalala Grid Station and damaged Wapda vehicles.

The vehicles which were damaged included a truck, a tractor, precious equipment and other important installations.

The grid station worth million of rupees got damaged due to which power supply from Jalala Grid Station was disrupted and people had to face further inconvenience.

Condemning the incident, Pesco Chief Executive Brig Sakhi Marjan asked the law enforcing agencies to take prompt action against those involved in the incident.

A case had been registered in the concerned police station against the responsible people.

Pesco has requested the provincial government to take a ‘strong’ action against the ‘culprits’ so that such incidents may not occur again.—APP
