LONDON, July 26: Four teenagers were remanded in custody at an English court on Wednesday after being charged with the murder of Pakistani-born taxi driver.

Michael Hand, 19, and three other youths who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before magistrates in Huddersfield, northern England, charged with murdering Mohammed Pervaiz, 41.

All four suspects, who are also charged with violent disorder, will next appear at the nearby Bradford Crown Court on August 2.

A married father of three, Pervaiz was beaten to death on Saturday after stopping to pick up a fare in what police called a racially-aggravated assault.

He was taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, with a post mortem examination showing he died of head injuries sustained in a serious attack.

Police said later that a 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of murdering Pervaiz and remained in custody.

An 18-year-old man arrested Tuesday was also still in custody.
