KARACHI, July 25: Holders Wapda, two outfits from Sindh and one from Punjab stormed into the semifinals of the National Women Basketball Championship at the NSTCC on Tuesday.

Unbeaten Wapda is drawn to meet Sindh Greens while Punjab Whites takes on Sindh Whites in the two semifinals scheduled for Wednesday.

Punjab Whites rounded off their group matches on winning note when they outplayed Islamabad 50-25 with Beenish Hasan scoring 20. For Islamabad, Sabika Khurshid also scored 20 but could not save her team from defeat.

Sindh Greens carved out a 24-3 victory against NWFP in the one-sided match.

Shakila contributed eight points for winners.

The Police-AJK encounter also fell short of expectations with the former winning 7-5.

Punjab Whites earned full points when they defeated Balochistan 32-6 in yet another one-sided show.

Earlier, in the three matches played on Monday night, Sindh Whites routed Punjab Blues 22-13, Wapda handed 24-4 defeat to AJK while Sindh Greens trounced Balochistan 25-4.

Wednesday’s fixtures: (semifinals):

Wapda v Sindh Greens 5.00pm; Punjab Whites v Sindh Whites 6.30pm.
