PESHAWAR, July 25: The Awami National Party, while expressing concern over Israeli attacks on civilian population in Lebanon, has urged the international community to immediately intervene and save innocent people from this aggression.

In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, ANP president Asfandyar Wali Khan deplored the silence of the world community over the blanket bombardment by Israeli planes on innocent citizens of Lebanon. He said that the hundreds of people had been killed and houses reduced to rubble but the international community was yet to swing into action.

He said his party strongly believed that war was no solution to any crisis. “Such actions by Israel can aggravate the problem which would not only engulf the whole Middle East but would also spell doom for rest of the world.

Mr Khan said that the UN should come forward and find a durable solution to the crisis. “The Security Council of the UN should take decision and effect a ceasefire,” he added.
