LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), July 24: Political authorities of Khyber Agency restored power supply to Landi Kotal and arrested 10 tribesmen here on Monday. Power supply to Landi Kotal was disrupted by Jhandakhel tribesmen at around 6am to protest against prolonged loadshedding in the area.

The authorities aided by the Khasadar force and the Khyber Rifles restored power supply to Landi Kotal, Army camp and other populated areas at 4pm and arrested 10 tribesmen on charges of disrupting the supply.

The authorities also sought guarantees from tribal elders and Maliks that the tribesmen would not indulge in disrupting power supply.

Assistant political agent of Landi Kotal warned tribal elders that the administration would levy huge fines against those who disrupted electricity supply in future.

The Jhandakhel tribesmen had also disrupted power supply to Landi Kotal from 4pm on Sunday to 2am on Monday. However, the supply was restored after the administration held talks with the protesting tribesmen.

MAN HELD: Border authorities at Torkham town arrested a man, Momin Khan, and recovered fake currency notes from his possession, official sources said. The accused was coming from Afghanistan and on check up at the border officials recovered fake currency notes from his possession. He was taken to a lock-up in Landi Kotal for interrogation.
