No wrist tests for age verification

By A Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, July 18: The organisers of a tennis tournament have decided to revert to old system for verifying age of prodigies through their date of births instead of conducting the wrist tests.

“The results of wrist tests were not accurate and wary from two to three years,” member technical committee of the tournament, Khalid Rehmani, said on Tuesday.

Responding to queries, he said the wrist test was not completely abolished by the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) and we go both ways.

The PTF had conducted wrist test of players for selection of U-16 team at Islamabad only two months back.

The organisers allow one year advantage to a player for his age verification through date of birth. However, the rules and regulations printed on the entry form says wrist test may also be taken if technical committee of the tournament decides.
