DHAKA, July 17: Bangladesh and India have agreed to inspect jointly their enclaves and territories under adverse possessions. The agreement came at the third Bangladesh-India joint boundary working group meeting held here on Monday.
“We intend to visit the enclaves and territories under adverse possession before the next meeting,” Indian External Affairs Joint Secretary Mohon Kumar told a joint press briefing. “We hope we have got off to a very good start in resolving the boundary issues. The two sides reached a very good understanding over the issues involved,” he said.
The group decided to meet every year, sources said.
The next meeting would be held in New Delhi, said a press release.
The two sides agreed to make every effort to resolve all outstanding boundary issues at the earliest, it said.
There are 111 Indian enclaves of 17,158 acres within Bangladesh territory, while India has 51 Bangladeshi enclaves of about 7,110 acres.
