KARACHI: PTCL workers threaten protest drive

KARACHI, July 16: PTCL workers have threatened to launch a massive protest drive against the sacking of 1,900 daily wage employees.

In this regard, an emergency meeting of PTCL Telecom Foundation Daily Wagers Action Committee was held on Sunday.

The meeting condemned the plan of the PTCL management to sack 1,900 daily wagers on July 22 and retrench other 20,000 regularised employees in the name of VSS scheme.

It was decided that the first protest rally in this regard would be held in Karachi on July 20 and if the PTCL management failed to withdraw these decision, a countrywide protest drive would be organised.—PPI
