India-Pakistan cooperation important: US

By Our Correspondent

WASHINGTON, July 14: The United States on Friday declined to comment on the Indian decision to postpone upcoming secretary-level talks with Pakistan but indicated that Washington considers the dialogue important for long-term peace in the region.

In a statement issued here, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard A. Boucher offered no direct comments on the Indian decision but said: “India-Pakistan cooperation over the long-term is very important.”
