Five held for desecrating Quran

QUETTA, July 14: The Jamaat Al-Sunnah has demanded that the government should give exemplary punishment to five people arrested for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran in Sibi.

It condemned the killing of Allama Hasan Turabi in a suicide attack in Karachi on Friday.

Addressing a press conference held at the press club on Friday, Pir Khalid Sultan Qadari, provincial president of Jamaat Al-Sunnah, announced to hold a protest demonstration in Quetta on Sunday.

He said Sibi police have arrested five people for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran in Mir Sikandar Shah Darbar in Allahabad area, and demanded exemplary punishment for them.

He also criticized the attack on Allama Hasan Turabi and urged religious parties of to maintain sectarian harmony to foil the conspiracy of the anti-Islamic forces.
